Inspired by Baudelaire's statement "Photographers, you will never become artists. All you are is mere copiers.", I asked painter Katrien Van Haute (@katrienvanhaute1) to create paintings based on the content of my Instagram account (@pami_pics). We wondered what would happen when a digital photo is transformed into a unique physical image. How would authorship and originality relate to each other in this context?
In the exhibition ‘A Pictured Picture’ (February–March 2026), the complete collection of 458 digital photos was displayed alongside a selection of the paintings. After the exhibition, the paintings were distributed among the visitors through an adoption program. 'A Pictured Picture' lives on in 30 private exhibitions.
